Being Visible

You just never know where and when an opportunity will present itself, do you?  In business, opportunity could be lurking anywhere.  And to be successful, you always need to be prepared for it.

More often than not, potential customers are quite happy with who they are currently doing business with, and many times it may not be with you and your company. Heartbreaking as it may be, that’s the reality of the business world.  However, that doesn’t mean they will never be your customer.

It’s important to remember to be consistently visible to your target audience and to be known as a credible and reliable resource.  Being visible means many things like:

  • attending business networking events where potential customers will be
  • connecting with potential customers on LinkedIn and contributing to group discussions they participate in
  • volunteering in various community and business events
  • being a connector of people and resources

Maintaining this level of visibility will provide you with a tremendous opportunity that will likely be missed by your competitors.

Remember that potential customer who was very happy with their current provider? Well, if that situation ever changes and happiness isn’t the norm anymore, who do you think they will call first?  You.  Why?  Because you were top of mind, always available, credible, and professional. You were visible and that visibility presented you with an incredible opportunity.

Keep it perpetual.
